E-commerce GEO: Make your products show up correctly in AI shopping
Shopping questions are increasingly asked to AI: “a light, waterproof running shoe”, “which espresso machine is quieter?”. The answer is built from product feeds, structured data on product pages and independent reviews. E-commerce GEO organises your product data so it appears complete and correct on these surfaces.
E-commerce GEO is the work of organising product feeds, product pages and structured data so products appear in AI-assisted shopping answers with the right price, stock and attributes. The Merchant Center feed, on-page Product data and page text must agree, and shipping, returns and variant details must be complete.
Where does shopping inside AI stand? (September 2026)
Direct purchase inside ChatGPT started on 29 September 2025 for US users, with Etsy sellers. It runs on the Agentic Commerce Protocol, an open standard co-developed by OpenAI and StripeSource 1: Stripe powers Instant Checkout in ChatGPT and releases Agentic Commerce Protocol codeveloped with OpenAI (29 Sep 2025). The protocol’s product feed accepts TSV, CSV, XML or JSON and can be updated every 15 minutesSource 2: Product Feed Specification.
On Google, the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) powers native checkout in AI Mode and the Gemini app. According to Merchant Center documentation it is currently available only in the US, to a limited set of merchants in early accessSource 3: About the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) and UCP-powered checkout on Google.
These checkout flows are not yet open to stores in Türkiye. They all share one input, though: clean, current product data. The work to do today is keeping your data ready for Google’s surfaces and for agent channels as they open.
What do we check in product data?
Google says providing both on-page structured data and a Merchant Center feed maximises eligibility for experiences and helps it verify the dataSource 5: Product structured data. Its generative AI guide adds that Merchant Center can help products appear in both AI responses and other resultsSource 4: Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search.

Which questions should a product page answer?
- Who it is for, and who it is not for
- Sizes, compatibility and usage details (as a table)
- Warranty, delivery time and return terms
- Genuine customer reviews; no bought reviews
- Price and stock present in the page’s initial HTML. The major AI crawlers do not execute JavaScriptSource 6: The rise of the AI crawler (Dec 2024).
