Digital PR and Citations: Be mentioned accurately where AI looks
AI answers draw not only on your site but on other sources that describe you: news, industry lists, directories, associations, comparison articles and communities. Digital PR and citation work aims to get you mentioned there, accurately and deservedly.
Citation work is digital PR aimed at getting a brand mentioned, accurately and naturally, in the third-party sources that AI answers cite. First we measure which sites are cited for which questions; then we earn a place there with newsworthy data, expert commentary and correct listings. No paid links and no fake mentions.
What is a source map?
When we ask the engines each question in your set, we also record the answers’ source lists. Over time they form a map: which news sites, directories, industry sources and communities keep appearing in your market?
| Source type | Example | How to earn a place |
|---|---|---|
| News and trade press | Business, health and legal publications | Newsworthy data, expert commentary |
| Directories and registers | Professional bodies, associations, business directories | Correct, complete listings |
| Comparison articles | Buyer’s guides, list articles | Accurate facts and evidence for editors; no paid placement |
| Communities | Forums, Q&A sites, complaint platforms | Transparent company replies; no sock puppets |
How do we work?
Map
We extract the sources cited in answers to your question set and rank them by type and frequency.
Correction
We find listings with missing or wrong information about you and ask for them to be fixed at the source.
Newsworthiness
We prepare original data, research or expert commentary for your industry and take it to the right editors.
Measurement
In the following months we track which sources change for the same questions and where you are mentioned.
In the GEO paper’s experiments, citing sources and adding statistics clearly raised visibility in generative engine answersSource 4: GEO: Generative Engine Optimization (Aggarwal et al., KDD 2024). That is why sources and data come first in everything we produce.
What we do not do
- We do not buy links. Buying or selling links to manipulate rankings breaks Google’s spam policies, and optimised anchor text in articles or press releases distributed on other sites counts tooSource 1: Spam policies for Google web search.
- We do not manufacture mentions. Google says seeking inauthentic “mentions” across the web is not as helpful as it may seemSource 2: Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search.
- We do not post under fake identities on forums, community dictionaries or complaint sites.
- We do not pay for reviews or ratings.
Google’s own advice is simple: tell people about your site in the communities where like-minded people gatherSource 3: Google Search Essentials. We do that with real people and open identities.
How much do community sites matter?
We know of no reliable, general study showing how often Turkish community sites (such as Ekşi Sözlük or Şikayetvar) are cited in AI answers. So we do not generalise; we measure which community sources appear, and how often, for your question set.
If there is negative content, the answer is not counter-content under a fake name but a transparent reply in the company’s name that shows how the issue was resolved.
What we need from you, what we deliver
| What we need from you | What we deliver |
|---|---|
| Your press and association relationships, if any | Source map |
| A spokesperson who can give expert commentary | Newsworthy data and content drafts |
| Data or experience you can make public | Pitches to editors, directories and associations |
| One person for approvals | Monthly mention and source report |
Frequently asked questions
01Do press releases help?
A release is a legitimate way to announce newsworthy news. But optimised anchor text in releases is one of Google’s link-spam examplesSource 1: Spam policies for Google web search. We write releases for news, not for links.
02When will we see results?
Editorial timelines and model update cycles vary, so we give no fixed timeline. Our monthly measurement shows, with dates, how the source map changes.
03Can you remove negative content from a complaint site?
No, we do not offer content removal; legal routes are a separate matter. We can help you write a transparent company reply and make the resolution visible.
