FAQ

Frequently asked questions

We grouped the questions we hear most in intro calls by topic and answered them briefly. Every claim about a platform carries its source. If your question is not here, write to us.

GEO, AEO and SEO

01What is GEO?

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of raising the odds that a brand is mentioned accurately and cited as a source in AI answers such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. More on the GEO page.

02How is AEO different from GEO?

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) targets places where a direct answer is shown: featured snippets, voice assistants and AI summaries in search results. GEO looks at the answers generative AI engines write. Both rest on the same base: crawlable, trustworthy content that answers the question plainly. See AEO.

03Now that AI is here, is SEO over?

No. Google says its generative AI features in Search are rooted in its core ranking and quality systemsSource 1: Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search. A page that cannot be crawled or indexed cannot be a source in those answers either. That is why SEO is the ground GEO stands on.

04Do we need to write separate content for AI?

Google says there is no need to break content into small chunks or write in a different style for its generative AI featuresSource 1: Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search. The short answer at the top of our pages is a summary for readers, not artificial chunking.

Measurement and results

01Which AI engines do you measure?

ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI. Depending on the package, some or all of them are measured; details on the Pricing page.

02What exactly do you measure?

Three things: whether your brand is named in the answer (mention), whether your site appears in the answer’s source list (citation) and whether what is said about you is correct (accuracy). How the measurement works is on the Kaynaq Method page.

03Why does the same question get different answers?

AI answers can change even for the same question. That is why we ask every question twice on every engine and record the results with dates. We never decide on the basis of a single screenshot.

04When do results show?

Some technical changes show quickly; OpenAI, for example, says a robots.txt change can take about 24 hours to be reflected in ChatGPT searchSource 2: Overview of OpenAI crawlers. Content and citation work shows over several measurement cycles, not in a single month. We do not promise dates or outcomes.

05Do you guarantee rankings or a place in AI answers?

No. Search engines and AI companies decide rankings and answers; nobody can guarantee them. We document the work and the measurement every month, with dates.

06What is the Open Ledger?

The record where Kaynaq measures and publishes its own AI visibility every month with the same method. We apply the measurement we recommend to clients to ourselves first. The first measurement is published on launch day: Open Ledger.

How we work

01How do we start?

With a free intro call. We talk about your industry, priorities and where you stand today, then send a written proposal with scope and price. If you do not know where you stand, the AI Visibility Audit is a good first step.

02Which industries do you work with?

Competitive industries where advertising rules limit what content can say: healthcare, legal, accounting, real estate, e-commerce, education, B2B and export. In fields such as healthcare and law, content is also checked against the industry’s advertising rules.

03Who implements the work, you or us?

Either works. We can produce the content, structured data and technical fixes ourselves, or hand them over as a task list detailed enough for your team to implement. Who does what is written into the proposal.

04Is the content written by AI?

We may use AI tools for research and drafting, but no page is published before a person has read it and its claims have been checked against their sources. Mass-producing low-quality pages breaks Google’s spam policiesSource 5: Spam policies for Google web search; we do not do it. The rules we follow on our own site are on the Editorial Policy page.

05Do you buy links?

No. Buying or selling links to manipulate rankings breaks Google’s spam policiesSource 5: Spam policies for Google web search. Our citation work relies on mentions that editors, directories and associations choose to make.

06Do you publish client names?

Not without written permission. We publish case studies only with the client’s approval and with real data.

Technical questions

01Should I block AI crawlers in robots.txt?

It depends on which bot you block and why. According to OpenAI’s documentation, sites that opt out of OAI-SearchBot are not shown in ChatGPT search answers, though they can still appear as navigational links. Disallowing GPTBot signals that your content should not be used to train its foundation modelsSource 2: Overview of OpenAI crawlers. So you can close training and stay visible in search. Our readiness test shows which bots your site allows.

02Can we opt out of Google’s AI summaries?

Yes. The Search generative AI control under Settings in Search Console lets you exclude your content from AI Overviews, AI Mode and generative AI features in Discover. Google says exclusion generally takes a few days and the setting is not used as a ranking signal for other parts of SearchSource 3: Search generative AI control.

03Do we need an llms.txt file?

It is not required. llms.txt is a standard proposed in 2024Source 4: The /llms.txt file. Google says you do not need llms.txt or special markup to appear in AI features in SearchSource 1: Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search. We publish one on our own site because it costs little, but we do not sell it as a ranking lever.

04Does structured data make you appear in AI answers?

Not on its own. Google says structured data is not required to appear in generative AI search and there is no special schema.org markup to addSource 1: Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search. We set up structured data so the brand and the page are recognised correctly.

05Does FAQ markup still help?

Google has not shown FAQ (FAQPage) rich results in Search since 7 May 2026Source 6: Removing documentation for the FAQ rich result feature (Search Central updates). FAQPage remains a valid schema.org type that describes a page’s structure to machines; we use it on this page too, without expecting an extra appearance on Google.

Data and privacy

01Do you store the address I enter in the readiness test?

No. The address is used only to run the test and is not recorded. To prevent abuse, your IP address is held in server memory for the 10-minute rate-limit window and deleted when it expires. Details on the Privacy Policy page.

02Does your site use cookies?

No. We use no cookies, analytics or ad tracking code, and our fonts load from our own server. See the Cookie Policy.

03What happens to what I send through the form?

It is used only to answer your request and prepare a proposal; it is not sold or added to a marketing list. Details and your rights are in the KVKK privacy notice.
