Visibility in Copilot: Seeing your citations in Bing Webmaster Tools
Copilot cites web sources in its answers. Microsoft shows those citations to site owners in a Bing Webmaster Tools report. This page covers the report and how Copilot is measured.
The AI Performance report in Bing Webmaster Tools shows how often your site is cited in Microsoft Copilot, Bing and selected partner AI experiences, and for which grounding queries. In June 2026 intents, topics, citation share and period comparison were added. The first step for Copilot visibility is adding your site to Bing Webmaster Tools.
What does the AI Performance report show?
According to Microsoft’s announcement, the report tracks your site’s citations across Microsoft Copilot, Bing and selected partner AI experiences. What are the first steps for Copilot?
- Add and verify your site in Bing Webmaster Tools and submit your sitemap.
- In the AI Performance report, check which of your pages are cited for which grounding queries.
- Where citation share is low, check whether your content answers the question directly and with sources.
How do we measure Copilot?
We read the report’s citation data alongside question-set measurement. The report tells you how often your site is cited; the question set shows how your brand is described and whether the information is correct. Each question is asked the same way every month, twice.
