llms.txt is a proposed file placed at a site’s root that gives AI tools a short summary of the site and its key pages in Markdown. The only required section is an H1 heading, followed by a summary, detail and link lists under H2 headings. It is not needed for AI features in Google Search and should not be seen as a ranking lever.
A section named “Optional” holds secondary links an agent can skip when it needs a shorter context.

What kind of file is llms.txt?
According to the proposal, the file sits at the site root (/llms.txt) or a subpath and follows this orderSource 1: The /llms.txt file:
- H1 heading: the site or project name; the only required section.
- Summary (blockquote): the key information needed to understand the rest of the file.
- Detail: paragraphs or lists, without headings.
- H2 sections: each a list of links in the form
- [name](url): notes. A section named “Optional” holds secondary links an agent can skip when it needs a shorter context.

Google says you do not need llms.txt or special markup to appear in AI features in SearchSource 2: Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search. The file is a low-cost convenience for tools that read it; it does not replace making your site crawlable, readable and trustworthy.

01Will adding llms.txt make me more visible in AI?
No documentation shows that. Google says llms.txt is not needed for its AI featuresSource 2: Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search. Add the file to give tools that use it a summary of your site.
02What is llms-full.txt?
Some sites publish an extra file with the text of all pages in one place; Kaynaq does too. It is not a required part of the llms.txt proposal. The proposal separately recommends offering clean Markdown versions of pages with a .md extensionSource 1: The /llms.txt file.
03Is anything I type sent anywhere?
No. The generator and validator run entirely in your browser.
