E-commerce GEO: Product data, feeds and AI shopping surfaces
When a product is asked about, the AI’s answer is compiled from product pages, feeds, reviews and comparison lists. On some engines you can now buy from inside the answer. This guide covers what it takes for your product information to reach these surfaces accurately and within the rules.
In e-commerce, GEO means product information that machines can read and that is correct and documented: price and stock in the initial HTML, product structured data matching the page, an up-to-date Merchant Center feed. Reviews come only from verified buyers. Agentic shopping launched in ChatGPT in the US, and Google’s is in US early access for now; a ready product feed can be built today.
1. The product page is the source
- Put price, stock and key features in the page’s initial HTML; major AI crawlers do not run JavaScriptSource 7: The rise of the AI crawler (Dec 2024).
- Write features measurably: material, dimensions, compatibility, warranty period.
- Keep advertising claims provable; in Türkiye advertisers must prove the accuracy of their claimsSource 6: Ticari Reklam ve Haksız Ticari Uygulamalar Yönetmeliği (son değişiklik RG 01.07.2026, 33297; yürürlük 01.08.2026).
2. Structured data and feeds
Google says providing both on-page product structured data and a Merchant Center feed maximises eligibility for different experiences and helps it verify the dataSource 1: Product structured data. Its generative AI guide adds that Merchant Center can help products appear both in AI responses and in other resultsSource 2: Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search. The two must show the same price and stock.
3. Review and ranking rules
- Only buyers of a product may review it; reviews from channels where the purchase cannot be verified may not be publishedSource 6: Ticari Reklam ve Haksız Ticari Uygulamalar Yönetmeliği (son değişiklik RG 01.07.2026, 33297; yürürlük 01.08.2026).
- Reviews are published for at least a year, without separating positive from negative, ordered by an objective criterionSource 6: Ticari Reklam ve Haksız Ticari Uygulamalar Yönetmeliği (son değişiklik RG 01.07.2026, 33297; yürürlük 01.08.2026).
- Rankings based on price or feature comparisons must state their criteria; rankings based on advertising or sponsorship must be labelled “advertising”Source 6: Ticari Reklam ve Haksız Ticari Uygulamalar Yönetmeliği (son değişiklik RG 01.07.2026, 33297; yürürlük 01.08.2026).

4. Agentic shopping: what is happening in ChatGPT and Google?
| Surface | Status | Source |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Instant Checkout | Launched on 29 September 2025 in the US with Etsy sellers; built on the Agentic Commerce Protocol | StripeSource 3: Stripe powers Instant Checkout in ChatGPT and releases Agentic Commerce Protocol codeveloped with OpenAI (29 Sep 2025) |
| Agentic Commerce Protocol feed | TSV, CSV, XML or JSON; can be refreshed as often as every 15 minutes | Protocol documentationSource 4: Product Feed Specification |
| Google UCP (AI Mode and Gemini) | For now US-only, with a limited set of early-access merchants | Merchant Center HelpSource 5: About the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) and UCP-powered checkout on Google |
For brands in Türkiye, the most valuable work today is a clean product feed and accurate product pages that will be ready when these surfaces open.
5. What should you measure?
- Whether the brand and product are mentioned in product and category questions.
- The accuracy of price, stock and feature information in the answer; when a price changes, the old figure can keep circulating in answers.
- Which sources are listed: your page, a marketplace or a comparison site?
